Umbrellas Are So Outdated

Hats are in :)

First & foremost my apologies to my mother Jenny, sorry po Nay I cannot sleep that’s why I have thought about blogging instead of staring at the ceiling.

I have been very busy these past few weeks - not that I am complaining cos I love every minute of my busy schedule. Never mind the sweat & the stress plus body aches, the laughter, bloopers & syempre the results of my activities were very fulfilling. In these weeks that passed I wore a lot of hats, hats that made me bonded with the people I love the most… some of these hats are:

The Son Hat
Yes for the nth time – my father have given me the position of a son (there are times when I think my Pop thinks that he has 2 sons – Pa, si kuya lang okay?). During the course of the conversation with my father I cannot help but smile, my Dad really trust me with masculine stuff. Gone are the amp & speakers’ errand, we are now up one notch we’re now into DRILLS. Yes my dears drills, barena, pambutas. I am now an educated daughter who can differentiate that Makita is to Japan, Black & Decker is to USA and Bosch is to Germany. Thanks to Pop for this info I will need to teach my children about this. WHAT??? I am gonna buy this??? What do I know with drills? Now what I did was make a detour from the home centers to hardwares, ika nga canvass canvass di ba? It’s a good thing that I went with my friend Jeng (who’s birthday is today & will end in 13 seconds while I was writing this HAPPY BIRTHDAY KLOG!) and Tita Violy when they went to Home Depot at The Fort last Saturday, we browsed at the available drills that is why more or less I now have an idea on what goes in a set. Then Sunday while malling with my niece Meng I dragged her to Ace Hardware for more info. This will be my Christmas gift for Pop kaya I’ll have to be great in choosing which is the best.

The Saleslady Hat
I don’t know if we have penchant for selling but so far my hermanas & I are surviving the sales world. This weekend I have discovered that I have a little power or persuasion hehehe, a few calls and voila orders na!

The Betsy Hat
Not that I complain for being a friend to my dears but it is worth mentioning that I was one last week. To my sweetie Chie, the online shopping via Friendster (you know what I mean) was fun – too bad our choices were limited. To my Fafa Bear Mark, I am so glad we went out last Friday – imagine the CDs that I would never have if we didn’t hanged out? And to know that you’re looking for the one na to brighten up your life is really comforting for me, you know how I will do anything to see you happy. Tonie, welcome back! You surprised me bruha! Namiss kita!!!

The Personal Shopper Hat
This is fun, most especially if there’s no budget margin. I enjoyed picking Moises’ gifts, I love wrapping gifts and most especially taking the gifts’ photos. If anyone knows how I can be a professional shopper (especially for the stars if such position is available) please holler and I will apply hehehe.

The Fairy JUDGE Mother Tiara
Although I don’t think I really judge people (no matter what you say, I didn’t judge you) this is a challenging role. Not only did I have to prove that I mean well, I have to defend my self to some people who thinks that I create discord to their lives. Now, Jores (your pathetic screen name) I am not judging you but I admit I find it fascinating okraying you hehehe. Seriously the tiara is not really for judging I believe it’s more of just the Fairy Godmother thingy. I just want what’s best for you kiddo.

The Messenger’s Hat
I hate Makati (if dining & shopping are not involved), I hate traveling (if long road trips & planes were not in the picture) and I hate government offices when they open at a slow motion pace every time I need something from the ASAP! Jenny HELP!!!

So many hats so little time for each, one by one you’ll have to endure each role. For some you look forward to doing again for some you wear it everyday & loving it but for some never again - but the best thing from these hats is that they never go out of fashion – in your lifetime you’ll have to try one to live your life to the fullest.

Gift Set

...and here's a special - Virgin Coconut Oil gift set, super nice ang packaging & maganda ang product - Gabs' Dad developed this thing kaya promise healthwise this is beneficial - ideal for your Moms, Dads, Grans, bosses actually for everybody.

I'll just post my home improvement photos some other day baka umagaw pa sa lime light ng tinda namin hehehe.

What Does Love Mean?

Okay talaga mga bata, walang kamuwang muwang but they speak with honesty, integrity and sincerity. Got the text below from an email (syempre pa forwarded ito), a lot of you may have read this already but I am gonna post it anyway and you can't do anything about it hehehe. I know I promised to post new stuff - something juicier than this but believe me - this is worth your time than my stupid whining ang blabbling

What does Love mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."
Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4

"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."
Danny - age 7

"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"
Emily - age 8

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well."
Tommy - age 6

"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy - age 8

"My mommy loves me more than anybody .
You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris - age 7

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren - age 4

"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.." (what an image)
Karen - age 7

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross."
Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.
The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
"Nothing, I just helped him cry"

Panalo!

Awww, makes me want to get a pup (I hate dogs, I just want to look at them from a far) so that he can lick my face eventhough I left him all alone the whole day (a HE? so I'm getting a male pup huh).

I can't sleep and now that my junky laptop is reincarnated (it's not so jurasic anymore but not that top of the line - still) I am back to midnight blogging. I have a pretty boring life so bear with me. This week is office hell week. I dunno what's with the work - THERE ARE SO MANY OF IT - this is the reward for going on a vacation? This is the post HK blues? Please take them away I dn't want to see Mickey anymore.

Now here's a confession - I am inlove and insane over a song a guy and the band. I didn't see it coming, I just bought a cd listened to it, was able to watch the bonus video and BANG, I was mesmerized and was brought to a new dimension. Don't ask me anything about Panday (gulp, arghhh) except for the song. Don't ask me anything about Sugarfree except the band guys' names. And don't ask me anything about Ebe cos I really don't know anything about him. I am still figuring out if I am intersted or not (as if) maybe Jenny and Jerome can help me on this. Do I need to write my letter na? Hehehe.

It's official, It's MYRA's BDAY already. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MYRA! MISS YOU LOVE YAH!

Domestic Goddess

It's not Nigela, it's just ME :)

Tuna & Mushroom Pasta in Olive Oil
A perfect treat for the weight watchers. All you have to do is sauté garlic then onions in olive oil, add the tuna & the mushroom (I added olives cos I love them) then wait for it to simmer. Then add your choice of herbs & spices (a dash of pepper would be alright but you can also add basil or a lil oregano just to add zest to it) then add salt depending on your preferred taste. It is best that you under cook your pasta a little because when you add them to your sautéed tuna & mushroom in olive oil sauce the heat will just make it perfect. Here’s what I was able to come up from this recipe (mind you I just tossed the ingredients together – walang cook book or instruction advice to) – an instant masterpiece (tastes good too). Yummy or Yucky?

The Tree, the Wreath and the Fairy
Yep yep yep, I am done decorating my humble abode for the Christmas season (actually not that done but I have started it by assembling my very first ever holiday tree). It is the first time that I am living in a real house on my own so buying the perfect tree is really a full time job for me last weekend not to mention the decors & other ornaments, I promise to post some pictures tomorrow. My motif? Pink, Fuchsia, Lavender and Old Rose. My bestfriend Luchie would be very proud of me for choosing the color schemes. I am done with the tree and the wreath and the Fairy was already placed on the tree top. This week I’ll just be doing the finishing touches. I have already installed the lights, have changed the bulbs to blinkers and I am so proud of myself. I was able to do all of it without a handy man. I am now a Handy Goddess hehehe.

Divisoria to Baclaran and to Any Point in Metro Manila
Yes that’s my route. Pen Jen & I went to the shopping capitals of the Metro for good buys – for our selves, our families & friends and of course for our clients. Let me invite everyone to come & buy stuff at our very own Tiange and Garage Sale, it’ll be this weekend – Nov 26-28 at Pembo, Makati City. It’s near The Fort. We have the best items and you guys won’t be sorry. The things we’re selling are worth the travel & money :).

I will post some of the merchandise we’re selling tonight so that you’ll have an idea on what we have ;)

For now I’m going back to work, happy Monday guys!

The Imperius Curse

Although last night’s movie was really good HP3 still remains my fave among all 4 that were already shown. A good movie that you can actually let children watch, I know it’s a kiddie movie but there are times when I believe that JK Rowling didn’t actually think about what kids might perceive on the pages she wrote. Over-all rating for The Goblet of Fire, 9 &3/4 (Prisoner of Azkaban got 9 & 4/5 hehehe).

A day late but I still want to greet my baby a happy happy birthday and belated to my Pop. He’s 11 and Pop’s 66. Double numbers, I betted on their birthdays I was

unlucky. In my 26 years of existence I have bought lottery tickets 3 times already and for you guys to realize how unlucky I am in lottery – not a single one of the numbers I have chosen were drawn. None as in nada. Even the Chinese Pi Xu wouldn’t help. Oh well unlucky in cards might be lucky in love?

Gift suggestions, I was messing a friend’s life yesterday by suggesting he get his weird gf an ouija board or any antique for that matter and you know what he’ll get her after all my brilliant suggestions? D&G Light Blue, grabeh na to. Now what to buy a special friend? I can think of a lot – a lot that are so predictable. A book, a CD he/she’s drooling on for weeks, scented candles (cge lang ismolin mo, I appreciate those things dude), a teddy bear (choose a beanie), potpourri, and I have seen these scented rose petals at Rustans they come in various colours and they smells heavenly. The recipients may be just officemates of yours but it would be best to think about what they would love to receive. Big bucks are not needed just think from the heart. And as we’re on the topic of gifts, I thought about the gifts that I would love to receive… hehehe wishlist again? Not that I want people to give me these stuffs these are more on things that I would probably get one of these days. But for my sister’s sake ATE!!! ITO ANG MGA GUSTO KONG REGALO ALRIGHT?

Jesse Specer’s CD (for my kajologs-an inside)
Lacoste Pour Femme (LUCHIE!)
Zahir
A new laptop bag (coloured! I saw one at Benetton)
The biggest dark brown Teddy Bear available
Complete Care Bears stuffed toys (the smallest ones)

Oh di ba? Ganda? Heehee. Simple lang di ba? I wouldn’t want to complicate my givers’ lives. Kaya Ate now you have an idea, no more excuses kesyo you don’t know what to buy me or that you weren’t prepared.

So boys & girls I have to close this pathetic piece of shit, once again folks thank you for your continued patronage amidst my wretched ramblings. Be good fellows, happy weekend. Keep your fists closed with your monies inside your hands unless the item is really to die for, I know sales are all around. God bless!

Born Upside Down

Isang institusyon, yan ang Eraserheads. I grew up listening to them, it was my brother who introduced them to me & to my sister, he was the one who bought the Ultraelectricmagneticpop album cos I always chant Toyang at home way back in grade school. I can still remember that I have their cassette tapes (oh di ba jologs pa) from Ultraelectric…, Circus, Cutterpillow, etc. Treasured possessions ko pa mga yun. May kagaguhan pa nga ko nun cos when my classmate said na mala Eagles’ Hotel California daw ang songs na Eheads - that when you back masked the tape you’ll hear songs for the devil. Gaya naman ako, I reversed the tape only to find side A tracks now on side B hehehe.

My favorite album is Circus, syempre andyan yung songs like With A Smile, Sembreak, Alapaap. Praning days ko yun I was in 2nd year high school and it was literally the sem break for college students (my sister was home from the university) while I was on all saints/souls holiday. I would let the stereo blare in the room that I share with my sister. Ayos lang sa kanya, we would both shout at the top of our lungs “Baskeball sa banyo”. I would memorize the lyrics and I was so proud that I was one of the few in school na alam lyrics cos not all in our class can sing Butterscotch na tama ang words. Oh and don’t forget Poor Man’s Grave – cool ka pag alam mong i-analyze ang social issues ng song na yun.

Wala lang, why am I writing about them? Siguro kase a tribute album was made and syempre wala pa rin papantay sa original Eheads. Beatles ng Pinas yan. At sa ka-henerasyon kong di nakakakilala sa kanila – tatamaan ka ng kidlat at ikamamatay mo yun.

At dahil wala na naman akong sense, all I can do is shake my head and walk away.

Looking Forward To

Harry Potter 4, can’t wait for tomorrow
…the weekend for my Divisoria & Baclaran shopping spree, I intend to make most of my Christmas shopping this weekend, I feel stressed out that it’s mid November already yet I still don’t have a tree or gifts to give to my family & friends
party, parties & partieeesss, Christmas get togethers, reunions, gimmicks, dates – whatever we call it – it’ll be the occasions & time spent with people you love
gift wrapping, I find the act of wrapping gifts a unique art and as Christmas approaches I can’t wait to wrap the gifts that I’ll be able to buy, when I was young my Mom always told me that I should work for a department store part time during Christmas rush cos I love wrapping gifts, wrapping books, wrapping food etc.
vacation, yippee!!! I’ll have mine with my family in Bicol and it’s cool that I’ll be there early and will stay until after New Year
2006, yes the promising year for everything!!! I feel so positive about this year, if 2005 is not my year I’m determined to make 2006 my best year – promise!
gifts :) as in gifts galore! I am so blessed that eventhough I spend a lot during Christmas holidays I have friends & a family who shares their blessings to me as well, tuninunino… ano kayang mahingi kay Mama?

...hi..hi..hi...

I know I said that was the end of it, wala lang I just love this picture.

Under Fire

Segue (start pa lang bongga hehehe): Thanks to all who have offered prayers for my Mom, she’s now free from her thyroid ailment. Thanks guys for the support & prayers, this really means a lot to our family. I am sharing this good news to all and as thanksgiving to you & to God.

Love is friendship under fire, got this from a teenage movie I was watching last night and it had me thinking. Friendship under fire and what it really means. Friendship under fire, being passionate about the person, loving what you have and being thankful for all of it. This line made me want to write something of importance to me today, love – not just the romantic one but everything that it represents.

A friend whom I don’t share the “what really matters most” things. And when I did it was something. I have realized that he’s one of the most important friends that I can really trust and depend on. One of the most obnoxious yet honest & faithful friend that a girl can wish for. We are under the same bridge as of this moment (you know who you are) but I am glad that you’ve found solace & shelter under this bridge with me. The night you told me you’re dilemma I have never stopped praying for you & your happiness. You may have told me shit & all, telling me how abnormal & pathetic I am but you have no idea how you warmed my heart when you told me that I make you proud and that nothing compares to me cos I am one of a kind. Now it’s your fault that I believe that I can make a guy really proud. It’s your fault that I now have this new courage within that I am a good catch. Hehehe it’s all your fault but I thank you for it.

My hermanas, Pen, Jeng, Dinah & Jen. Girls, we’ll all be rich together. I am so blessed to have you all cos I know that the emotions & money that we have invested in each other is tested – through thick & thin. Pakikipagsapalaran man sa Baclaran, pagtia-tiangge man. Mambarat man ng supplier or mambola man ng tindera. I may be this thick faced today but it’s all good – all for the best. I love you girls, every minute, every laugh & every tear I shared with you formed me to what I am today.

Lost love, found, misplaced, forgotten, ignored. Thanks for the time, for talking to me for calling me. At first it was awkward but I am glad we’re friends. Nothing beats the understanding and devotion that you both have. This may not sound romantic but I really do love you, yes both of you. It may be a different level kind of love but guys I really do.

Why is it so difficult for me to have you as my friend? Am I bitter? What is holding me back? No & I don’t know. I’ve been thinking that perhaps if we’re not to talk about the past anymore we could be good friends, I am willing to & ready to be there for you. I just hope that should we try at least we do both our best to hold no strings. I am now extending my hand for a shake. It’s up to you to take it.

Friendship under fire… yep friendship that have gone through a lot of fire not to mention ice. I know we have this & we had more before. I don’t know what’s wrong. What’s stopping you what’s making me give up. When you told me to take care I realized that we really do not say things of this sweetness to each other. And when you repeated it, you made me think about not giving up again. I know it’s just take care but when I ponder on the things you have told me – things that aren’t sweet if I am to base it on a lover’s dictionary – I have realized that they mean more than I love you & I care for you. Because you tell me things that really means a lot to you. You have shared secrets about yourself and those things gave me the idea on how you became the man you are today. Those things gave me the idea and made me understand your mold. You’re really special and I will not lie about that. I am glad we’re friends and hope we’ll stay friends until the last breath of our lives.

The End

Yes, this is the last of the HK photos, I am sick & tired at looking at my face. The feeling is so surreal it feels like I am not myself - that I am just staring at another girl thinking why is she prettier than I am (arghhh! pathetic). Anyway here are the best picks from the thousands of pictures available:

HK Disneyland, October 30, 2005
with Jen, Jerome & Joel

Victoria Peak, October 29, 2005

Live It Love It

and then again Leave It.

HK, one of the most expensive country in the world (not that I like to buy it or live there but it is really an expensive place to have a vacation) but you will really go gaga over the things that you can see and actually buy there. The sights are nice, the experience especially the fun & bloopers we had are priceless, special mention to the Chinese Restaurant that met Jerome's & my expectation and have led Jen & Joel crying (lost in translation & illustration), the drunkard waiter at the Hot Pot Restaurant across the hotel we stayed at, Capitalist Henry, "Huh" Yenni-Jenny, tour guide from hell Lauren aka Annie (Anonymous), Socialist Ricky (who knows how to speak Tagalog & perfected the art of repetition in our local language - calling on Jun-jun who's now gutom-gutom and would like to go kain-kain), terrorists of Victoria Peak who claps & cheers for God-knows-what-reason while the tram was helplessly pushing off our butts to be able to reach the peak and the Love Birds-flu.

Streets of Hong Kong is really tricky, imagine on our way from the city back to the awaiting vehicle, Jo & I have to walk around the same streets twice, it looks all the same but it wasn’t and there are short-cuts that seems like long ones. The traffic lights will pressure you as it gives off a semi-siren sound that would make you brisk walk while crossing the street. Jenny, Jerome & my encounter with the traffic enforcer (we’ve beaten the red light on foot, hehehe and I shied away from the officer while Jen & Jerome made our graceful exit) is unforgettable although not really humiliating (humiliating is having to order from a Chinese restaurant, negotiating with a drunkard waiter and wanting to walk out without finishing off your order – we sat there figuring out what to eat for dinner and it took us around an hour cos the waiter is from hell).

On this experience, I have learned real good things – lessons in life and reality… that Jen & Jerome can be good parents cos they look after me (not that I needed it – but they let me choose the best bed, best view, best spot and they even let me use the bathroom before them – hehehe I was pampered), Jo is a shopaholic and real good friend – can’t complain (eyebrows slightly raised – next time kiddo I am not gonna go with you on your shopping sprees), that I can be on a foreign country bravely (although we do not want to take our chances with the birdflu – hehehe we made sure we went there vaccinated and imagine being left alone in China!!!) and that good times & vacation are best spent with good friends & people you consider your family (like your boss, your colleague, the lolo & the childhood friend).

It was a blessing, I will forever remember the long weekend I have spent to live & love.

The HK Experience

I know I promised to post the pictures, but due to almost a thousand pictures from all four cameras combined (3 digital cameras & Jerome's manual cam with 3 rolls of 36 shots films), this is the only thing I was able to do in 5 days after our arrival (a girl gotta work sorry friends). It's so hard to pick the pictures to display when all the bidas are soooo photogenic (ehem ehem, Jen Jerome & Jo I'll collect the payments for the nice words later). It already costs us a big fortune having these pictures developed.

These pics were from the NAIA to HKIA & the lunch/walk/gala we had at the Panda Hotel side (Oct 29). I promise to post more pics this month (hehehe sorry I know my site is pretty outdated already, I'll fix it soo, I will).

Disney, Ocean Park, China, Harbour, Victoria Peak, etc pictures to follow & ofcourse the stories behind the pictures.

And Behold

... the sights & scenes of Hong Kong, hehehe oh well you'll be seeing my face, Jen's, Jerome's & Joel's :)

I am still editing the pictures hopefully I'll be able to post a few within the day. The story for each will just follow.

Back to reality, thank God bakasyon uli on Friday.

And here's a teaser:
